Your loyal Leo heart may be challenged by an equally strong need for freedom this week. On Thursday, July 1, self-directed Mars in his first independent house forms its biennial opposition to the traditional Saturn in Aquarius and his seventh house of relationships. The urge to merge is fervent, but so is the urge to do your thing on your own timeline. No one can accuse him of NOT being a devoted friend and partner, and yet … as an energetic fire sign, he can swing to the opposite pole, disappearing when he is captivated by a “once in a lifetime” experience. And while that sounds perfectly reasonable to you, your best friends (and especially your friends) don’t always do so well. So this week, with my first Mars controlled by two heavenly heavyweights, the goal is to strike a healthy balance. You’ll be running on high-octane Martian fuel until I leave Leo on July 29, giving you momentum and energy to keep going on personal projects, especially those that can increase your visibility.

Cats alone will have a picnic this week, with their magnetism reading off the charts. Just don’t provoke anyone who clearly doesn’t interest you. But have fun for fun? By all means!

On Saturday, you may feel like you’re dodging speed traps from left to right thanks to a tense square between the indie spirit of Mars in Leo and the disturbing Uranus in the corner of your career. If you are concerned that work tasks will interfere with your weekend, turn off the doorbell and all alerts and enjoy “me” time. Of course, if there is something that is non-negotiable, or that you proposed to yourself by volunteering or violating a deadline last week, you may have to pay the piper. Can you do it quickly and finish? However, if someone is being manipulative by crying wolf, be prepared to discern a true emergency from someone’s inability to handle a problem on their own. You don’t want to give up your responsibilities, but you don’t want to work on anything that can wait until Monday. Is this something you can do from the car on a road trip or on the lounger by the pool? As long as you produce something solid, no one ever needs to know!
